Eager (adj.) – ईगर – उत्सुक – Avid / Fervent

• विवेक अपनी कक्षा का सबसे होनहार छात्र है और विज्ञान की कक्षा में वह पढ़ने के लिए बहुत उत्सुक रहता है।
  Vivek is the most sincere child of his class, and he is very eager to study in the science class.

Eclipse (n.) – एक्लिप्स – ग्रहण – Shadowing / Obscuration

Egotism (n.) – इगोटिज़्म – केवल अपने बारे में बात करना / अहंकार / घमंडी – Arrogance

• शिवेंदु से कोई बात नहीं करना चाहता है क्योंकि हर समय बस वो अपने बारे में बात करता है या अपनी तारीफ करते रहता है।

Elderly (adj.) – एल्डर्ली – अधेड़ / बूढ़ा / बुजुर्ग व्यक्ति – Aged / Venerable

• हमें कोरोना जैसे महामारी के समय अपने आस पास रह रहे बूढ़े – बुज़ुर्ग की मदद करनी चाहिए जैसे उनके लिए सब्ज़ी फल लाना या उनका कोई बाहर का काम कर देना।
  During the pandemic such as the Corona, we should help the elderly living around us like getting groceries for them or doing some of their work, which is outdoor-related.
  
  
• हर घर में एक बुज़ुर्ग की ज़रुरत होती है क्योंकि वे घर में शांति और समृद्धि को कायम रखते हैं और हर किसी को सही सलाह देते हैं।
  There is need of an enderly in every house because they maintain peace and harmony in the house and give suggestions to all.

Elect (vt.) – इलेक्ट – चुनना – Choose / Select

• हर पांच साल में आम चुनाव में देश की जनता को एक मौका मिलता है कि वह अपने पसंद के उम्मीदवार का चुनाव कर सकती है।
  Every five years during the general elections, the people of the country get a chance to elect a candidate of their choice.
  
  
• चुनाव चाहे पंचायत का हो या ज़िले का या देश का हो, हमें चुनना उसे ही चाहिए जो देश के लिए काम करने का माद्दा रखता हो और तत्पर हो।

Elegant (adj.) – एलिगेन्ट -सुंदर (Sundar) – Beautiful/Impressive

Element (n.) – एलिमेंट – कण – Ingrediant

Elevation (n.) – ऐलिवेशन – ऊँचाई / ऊपर की ओर – Height / Altitude

Eligible (adj.) – एलिजिबल – योग्य – Suitable/ Apt

• किशोर ने अपनी पढ़ाई मात्र इक्कीस साल में पूरी कर ली थी जिसके कारण कई परीक्षाओं में बैठने के लिए वह योग्य नहीं हुआ था।
  Kishore completed his studies in just 21 years due to which he was not eligible to sit in the exams.
  
  
• नीरज की लम्बाई भारतीय सेना में जाने के लिए थोड़ी सी काम रह गयी जिसके कारण वह अयोग्य घोषित कर दिया गया।

Eliminate (v.) – इलिमिनेट – मिटा देना / बाहर हो जाना – To eradicate / To oust

Elucidate (vt.) – ऐल्युसिडेट – करना / अच्छे से स्पष्ट रूप से समझाना – Explain clearly

• जब प्राजक्ता से जज ने सवाल पूछा, तो उसे बहुत ही स्पष्ट और साफ़ तरीके से समझा के उन्हें उत्तर देना पड़ा।

Embarrass (v.) – इम्बैरस – शर्मिंदा करना / असमंजस में डालना  – Abash / Confuse

• क्या आप मुझे शर्मिंदा करने की कोशिश कर रहे हैं?

• रोहन ने मुझे अपने दोस्तों के सामने असमंजस में डाल दिया।
  Rohan embarrassed me in front of his friends.

Embrace (v.) – इम्ब्रेस – गले लगाना / अपनाना – Hug  / Accept 

• इस छोटे लड़के ने अपने कुत्ते को गले से लगा लिया।
  This little boy embraced his dog.
  
  
• परिवर्तन को अपनाना बुद्धिमानी होगी।
  It will be wise to embrace the change.

Emigrant (n.) – इमिग्रैंट – प्रवासी / दूसरे देश से आये हुए – Migrant

• अमेरिका में कई लोग ऐसे हैं जो वहाँ के नागरिक न होकर दूसरे देशों से आये हुए हैं और वहाँ अपना कारोबार या जॉब कर रहे हैं।
  Many people in the United States are not native citizens rather emigrants, and they have their business or job there.
  
  
• बहुत से देश ऐसे हैं जिनके नागरिकों को युद्ध के कारण अपने ही देश को छोड़ कर दूसरे देश में शरणार्थी के रूप में जाकर शरण लेनी पड़ती है ताकि वह ज़िंदा रह सके।

Endanger (v.) – इन्डेंजर – खतरे में डालना – Hazard / Risk

Endure (vt.) – एन्ड्यौर – भोगना / सहन करना –  To Suffer / To bear

• कई सौ सालों से महिलाएं बहुत सी प्रताड़ना सहती आ रही हैं लेकिन आज की नारी इतनी शक्तिशाली है कि वह हर क्षेत्र में अपना दबदबा बना रही है।
  For hundreds of years, women have been enduring exploitation, but today’s woman is so powerful that she is ruling the roost in all fields.
  
  
• अगर कोई भी व्यक्ति आपके साथ गलत कर रहा हो या आपके साथ नाइंसाफी हो रही हो तो उसे सहने के बजाय, उसके खिलाफ आवाज़ उठानी चाहिए।
  If a person is doing wrong with you or injustice is being done, then instead of enduring it, a voice should be raised against it.

Equilibrium – इक्विलिब्रियम – संतुलन – Balance

• जीवन में हमें हर चीज़ देखनी पड़ती है और सभी चीज़ों के बीच में संतुलन बना के रखना पड़ता है, नहीं तो वो काबू से बाहर चली जाती हैं।
  We have to look after all the things in life and maintain equilibrium among them, else things go out of control.
  
  
• एक माँ इस बात का शानदार उदाहरण है कि जीवन में घर और बाहर की दुनिया के बीच में हमें किस तरीके से संतुलन बना के रखना चाहिए।

Equivalent (adj.) – एक्विवैलेन्ट – बराबर या बराबर के मूल्य का – Equal

• अगर ग्राहक के पास खुल्ले पैसे नहीं होते हैं तो दुकानदार उन्हें उसी के बराबर के मूल्य की और कोई वस्तु बदले में दे देते हैं।
  If the customer does not have a change, then the shopkeeper generally gives them an item that is worth equivalent to that amount.

• रीढ़ की हड्डी को स्वस्थ रखने के लिए, अक्सर हमें यह सलाह दी जाती है कि अगर खड़े हो तो कोशिश करो कि सीधे खड़े रहो।
  To keep our spine healthy, we are often advised that if we are in standing position, then we should stand erectly.
  
  
• रौनक के पिताजी भारतीय सेना में कार्यरत हैं और वह बताता है कि वहाँ पर एकदम स्थिर और सीधा खड़ा होना पड़ता है।

Escape (v.) – इस्केप – भाग जाना/बच निकलना – To flee / To get away

• कैदियों ने जेल से भागने की कोशिश की।

Essential (adj.) – इसैन्शियल – बहुत आवश्यक / बहुत ज़रूरी – Very important

• अगर हम ध्यान से सोचने बैठे तो यह पाएंगे कि दरअसल जीवन में ज़्यादातर चीज़ें बस ऐसे ही हैं और कुछ थोड़े बहुत हैं जो बहुत ही ज़रूरी हैं।

• मनुष्य कितनी भी कोशिश कर ले लेकिन किसी भी चीज़ को अनंत काल तक अपने साथ नहीं रख सकता।
  However, hard humans may try, but anything cannot be kept all along with them eternally.
  
  
• ख़ुशी या दुःख, दोनों में से कोई भी अनंत नहीं है बल्कि जीवन में हर मोड़ पर दोनों दस्तक देते रहते हैं।
  Be it joy or sorrow, either of it doesn’t stay eternally; instead, they come into your life at different stages.

Ethics (n.) – एथिक्स – नीति, आचार विचार – Conduct / Manners

• मुझे काव्य बहुत पाखंडी लड़की लगती है, पहले तो नियम की बातें करती है और फिर कुछ समय बाद ही उनकी धज्जियाँ उड़कर अपना काम निकाल लेती है।

• एक अच्छे और प्रगतिशील समाज की नींव एक अच्छी नीति के दम पर ही होती है, नहीं तो समाज में असामाजिक तत्वों का बोलबाला होगा।
  The foundation of a fair and progressive society is laid on the basics of ethics, and else there will be a dominance of anti-social elements in the society.

Etiquette (n.) – एटिकेट – शिष्टाचार/तहज़ीब – Protocol / Manners

• हर देश में सामाजिक शिष्टाचार के अपने रीति-रिवाज होते हैं।

Evacuate (vt.) – एवेकुएट – किसी खतरे वाली जगह से सुरक्षित जगह पर ले जाना – Shift

• जब राँची शहर के एक बड़े होटल में दसवें मंज़िल पर आग लगी तो सभी लोगों को बीच में चल रही पार्टी छोड़कर, कमरा खाली करने को कहा गया।
  When the fire broke out on the tenth floor of a big hotel in the city of Ranchi, people were told to evacuate out of the room in the middle of the party.
  
  
• जब लेबनान के राजधानी बेरूत में बहुत ही बड़ा धमाका हुआ तो कई लोग मलबे के नीचे फँस गए, राहत कर्मियों की मदद से उन्हें सुरक्षित जगह पर ले जाया गया।
  When there was a massive explosion in Lebanon’s capital Beirut, many people were trapped inside the debris; with the help of rescue teams, they were evacuated to a safer place.

  We have no evidence that he was there at that moment.
  
  
• आप बिना किसी सबूत के इसे साबित नहीं कर सकते।
  You can’t prove it without any evidence.

Evident (adj.) – एविडेन्ट – स्पष्ट / ज़ाहिर – Obvious / Apparent 

• यह स्पष्ट है कि धूम्रपान स्वास्थ्य के लिए हानिकारक है।
  It is evident that smoking is harmful to health.
  
  
• यह एकदम से ज़ाहिर था कि कंपनी वित्तीय कठिनाइयों में थी।
  It was quite evident that the company was in financial difficulties.

Evolution (n.) – एवोल्यूशन – विकास – Development / Growth

• आदि मानव के युग में पत्थर से आग जलाने से लेकर, आज मोबाइल पर एक दूसरे से बात करने को देखा जाए तो पता चलेगा कि मानव जाति का कितना विकास हुआ है।
  In the medieval age, when the stone was used to light the fire which has now come to talk to each other over the phone, if we see this journey then we will realize how an evolution has taken place for mankind.
  
  
• विज्ञान के अनुसार हम इंसान दरअसल, बंदरों का ही विकसित रूप हैं और गौर से देखें तो दोनों की काफी हरकतें भी एक जैसी मिलती हुईं है।
  According to science, we humans are an evolution of the monkeys, and if we look carefully, then various traits resemble each other.

Exaggerate (vt.) – इग्ज़ैजरेट – बढ़ा चढ़ा कर बोलना / ज़रुरत से ज़्यादा ही बोलना

• तुषार कभी – कभी खुद की तारीफ करते – करते इतना मशगूल हो जाता है कि वह कुछ ज़रुरत से ज़्यादा ही बोल जाता है।
  Sometimes Tushar gets so lost while praising himself that he starts exaggerating things.
  
  
• इंटरव्यू के दौरान जब आपसे कुछ पूछा जाए तो कोशिश करें कि उसका उत्तर संक्षिप्त में दें न कि ज़रुरत से ज़्यादा बोलकर उन्हें परेशान करें।
  When you are asked something during an interview, then try to answer that as precisely as possible, don’t try to annoy them by exaggerating the answer unnecessarily.

Exceed (n.) – एक्ससीड – अधिक होना / ज़्यादा होना – More / Beyond

• जब राशन की दुकान पर दुकानदार ने चावल की बोरी नापी तो वह लिखे हुए वज़न से लगभग दो किलो ज़्यादा थी।
  When the shopkeeper at the general store weighed the sack of rice, then it exceeded the printed weight by around 2 kgs.
  
  
• जब पानी का स्तर यमुना नदी में सामान्य से अधिक हो गया तो सारा पानी शहर में प्रवेश कर गया और दिल्ली में बाढ़ आ गयी।
  When the water level in river Yamuna exceeded the average level, then the entire water entered the city, and floods struck Delhi.

Exception (n.) – एक्सेप्शन – अपवाद / कुछ हटकर – Slander

• सचिन तेंदुलकर जैसे खिलाड़ी एक अपवाद हैं जो स्थिति और गेंदबाज़ के बदलने से अपना खेलने का तरीका नहीं बदलते।
  Players like Sachin Tendulkar are exceptions who don’t change their style of play with the change of situation and the bowler.
  
  
• अब्दुल कलाम जैसे महान वैज्ञानिक एक अपवाद हैं जो इतने गरीब घर में पैदा होने के बावजूद भी अपनी मेहनत और लगन के दम पर सफल हुए।
  Great scientists like Abdul Kalam are an exception who, despite being born in a poor household, succeeded under his dedication and hard work.

Excited (adj.) – ऐक्साइटेड – उत्सुक / उत्तेजित – Eager / Enthusiastic

• स्टूडेंट्स स्पोकन इंग्लिश गुरु चैनल के नए वीडियो देखने के लिए हमेशा उत्साहित रहते हैं।
  Students are always excited to watch new videos of Spoken English Guru channel.
  
  
• बल्लेबाजी के लिए कोहली के आते ही दर्शक उत्तेजित हो उठे।
  The audience got excited as soon as Kohli came to bat.

Exclamation (n.) – एक्सक्लमेशन – विस्मयादि बोधक / अचानक उत्पन्न हुए भावनाएं

• जब नवीन के पिताजी ने उसे बिना बताये घर आ के उसे चौंका दिया तब उसके चेहरे पर विस्मय और आश्चर्य साफ़ झलक रहा था।
  When Naveen’s father surprised him by suddenly coming home, the expression of exclamation and surprise was visible on his face.
  
  
• जब अभिनव की बेटी का जन्म हुआ तो वह उसे देख कर इतना खुश हो गया कि उसके अचानक खुश होने से उसका ब्लड प्रेशर बढ़ गया।
  When Abhinav’s daughter was born, he got so happy that his sudden exclamation of joy made his blood pressure go up.

Exclusive (n.) – एक्सक्लूसिव – जो कहीं और न हो – Unique / Matchless

• हम कई बार टीवी पर किसी बड़ी हस्ती का इंटरव्यू देखते हैं तो वह ज़्यादातर उसी चैनल पर मिलते हैं, कहीं और नहीं इसलिए उनकी चर्चा ज़्यादा होती है।
  Whenever we watch an interview of an eminent personality on tv, then most of the time, it’s broadcasted on that channel only i.e., exclusive, and that’s why it’s more talked about as well.
  
  
• जब मोहित अपने बड़े भाई के लिए उपहार लेने बाजार में गया तो उसने ऐसा कुछ दिखाने को कहा जो कि कहीं और न हो, बस उसी दुकान में मिले।
  When Mohit went to the market to buy a gift for his elder brother, then he asked to show something very exclusive and could be explicitly found in that shop itself.

Excuse (n. & v.) – एक्सक्यूज़ – बहाना / क्षमा करना – Pretense / To apologize

• रमेश हमेशा देर से आने के लिए कुछ न कुछ बहाने बनाता रहता है।
  Ramesh always makes some excuses for coming late.
  
  
• आपका पत्र गलती से खोलने के लिए मुझे क्षमा करें।
  Excuse me for opening your letter by mistake.

Exempt (n.) – इग्ज़ैम्पट – छूट देना / मुक्त करना – Liberate / Make free

• जो चीज़ें भारत में निर्मित होती हैं, उन पर केंद्र सरकार कुछ टैक्स में छूट देती है ताकि देसी उत्पादन बढ़े और देश तरक्की करे।
  Those things which are made in India are exempted from tax by the central government, so that the indigenous production increases and the country progresses.
  
  
• मदन के बहुत आग्रह करने पर, उसके स्कूल ने उसकी वार्षिक फ़ीस माफ़ कर दी क्योंकि उसकी आर्थिक स्थिति बहुत ही ज़्यादा ख़राब थी।

Exhausted (adj.) – एग्ज़ॉस्टेड – थका हुआ – Tired

• वहाँ से लौटने के बाद, मैं थक गया।
  I got exhausted after returning from there.
  
  
• मैं उसके बहानों से थक गया हूँ।
  I have been exhausted of his excuses.

Exhaustive (adj.) – एग्ज़ॉस्टिव – सम्पूर्ण या पूरा – Entire / Detailed

• मुझे यकीन है कि सीबीआई की पूरी इन्वेस्टिगेशन से दोषी का पता चल जाएगा ।
  I am sure, that the exhaustive investigation of CBI will reveal the identity of the culprit.

Exhibit (n.) – एग्ज़िबिट – प्रदर्शित करना / दिखाना – Show / Manifest / Display

• हितेश प्रगति मैदान में घूमने गया तो उसने देखा कि वहाँ पर हर राज्य के लज़ीज़ व्यंजनों की प्रदर्शनी लगी हुई है।

Exile – एग्ज़ाइल – निर्वासन / देशनिकाला – Deport / Banish

• किसी भी तरह से अपने देश से निर्वासित होना किसी के लिए भी एक सुखद अनुभव नहीं है।
  To be exiled from one’s own country in any way is not a sweet experience for anyone.

Existence (n.) – एक्ज़िस्टेंस – अस्तित्व में होना – Being / Presence

• अंग्रेज़ों के ज़माने के दौरान बनायीं गयी कई ऐसी इमारतें हैं जो आज भी अस्तित्व में है और उनकी कीमत लाखों – करोड़ों में है।
  Many such buildings have been built by the Britishers that are still in existence, and their worth is in lacs and crores.
  
  
• कई हज़ार साल पहले पृथ्वी पर कई और प्रकार के प्राणी हुआ करते थे लेकिन तापमान में अचानक बदलाव के कारण अब वह अस्तित्व में नहीं हैं।

Expel (n.) – एक्सपेल – बाहर निकालना – Repulse / Deport

• जब बृजेश ने पढ़ने के दौरान मस्ती की तो मैम ने गुस्से में आकर उसे कक्षा से बाहर निकल दिया।
  When Brijesh was having fun during the class, being angry, the teacher expelled him from the class.
  
  
• जो लोग देश में रहकर ही देश की बुराई करते हैं और उसके पतन के बारे में सोचते हैं ऐसे लोगों को देश से बाहर निकाल फेंकना चाहिए।
  Those people who criticise the country while living in it and plan for its decline, such people should be expelled out of the country.

Expensive (adj.) – ऐक्सपैन्सिव – महंगा / बहुमूल्य – Costly / Precious

• विमान से यात्रा करना महंगा है।

Explanation (n.) – एक्स्प्लेनेशन – स्पष्टीकरण / विवरण – Clarification /  Description

• बॉस को क्लर्क का स्पष्टीकरण संतोषजनक नहीं लगा।
  The boss didn’t find the explanation of the clerk satisfactory.
  
  
• उसने मुझे विस्तृत विवरण दिया कि कंप्यूटर कैसे काम करता है।
  He gave me a detailed explanation as to how computer works.

Export (vt.) – एक्सपोर्ट – निर्यात – Send overseas

• भारत की कमाई का सूत्र कई मायनों में उसका निर्यात ही है, जो वो अक्सर दूसरे देशों को खाद्द सामग्री बेच के करता है।
  India’s source of income in many aspects is its export, which it does to other countries related to eatables.
  
  
• यूरोप के कई देश इतने ज़्यादा अमीर इसलिए हैं क्योंकि वह खाने पीने या छोटी चीज़ों का नहीं बल्कि महंगी और कुछ नायाब चीज़ों का ही निर्यात करते हैं जिसके कारण उन्हें बहुत ज़्यादा मुनाफ़ा होता है।
  Many countries in Europe are so rich because instead of food items or small commodities, costly and rare items are exported, which is why they have a considerable profit.

Explore (vt.) – एक्सप्लोर -कुछ नया करना सीखना / खोजना – Find out

• पवन को वैसे तो गणित में बहुत मन लगता था लेकिन कुछ नया करने के इरादे से उसने जीव विज्ञान भी साथ में पढ़ने का सोचा।
  Pavan had a fair amount of interest in mathematics, but with an approach of exploring something new, he thought of studying biology alongside.
  
  
• आज कल के बच्चे कुछ नया करने के लिए इतना उत्सुक रहते हैं कि वह अपने बाकी सारे काम करना, जैसे पढ़ाई या खेलना भूल जाते है।

  When some people filed a petition in the court against some corrupt officers, then all the officers taking bribes were exposed.
  
  
• अख़बार या न्यूज़ चैनल का किसी भी घटना को प्रकाश में लाने में एक अहम किरदार होता है इसलिए इन्हे लोकतंत्र का चौथा स्तम्भ भी कहा गया है।

Express (v. & adj.) – एक्सप्रेस – व्यक्त करना – To convey / Fast moving

• क्या आप अपने विचार अंग्रेज़ी में व्यक्त कर सकते हैं?

• यह एक एक्सप्रेस ट्रेन है जो बहुत से स्टेशनों पर नहीं रुकेगी।

Extempore (n.) – एक्सटेम्पोर – बिना तैयारी के भाषण देना या अभिव्यक्ति – Off hand

• भाषण देने में बहुत कठिनाई नहीं होती है लेकिन किसी की भाषा पे पकड़ इस बात से पता चलता है कि वह बिना तैयारी के किस तरह बोल पाता है।
  There is no much difficulty faced while giving a speech, but someone’s command over a language is judged by the way he delivers an extempore.

Extension (n.) – एक्सटेंशन – फैलाव – Spreading / Prolifiration

• उसके घर में एक बहुत बड़ा गार्डन है।
  There is an extensive garden in his house.

Extensively (adj.) – ऐक्सटैन्सिवली – बड़े पैमाने पर, विस्तार से – Broadly / Widely

• इस टॉपिक को उस वीडियो में विस्तार से बताया गया है।
  This topic has been covered in that video extensively.
  
  
• इस गांव में आलू की पैदावार बड़े पैमाने पर की जाती है।
  Potato is cultivated extensively in this village.

Extinct (adj.) – एक्स्टिंग्ट – विलुप्त / बुझा हुआ – Vanished / Dead

• डायनासोर अब एक विलुप्त प्राणी है।
  Dinosaur is now an extinct creature.
  
  
• माउंट फुजी अब एक बुझा हुआ ज्वालामुखी है।
  Mount Fuji is now an extinct volcano.

Extinguish (v.) – ऐक्स्टिन्ग्विश –  बुझाना / मिटाना – Douse / Quench

• आग बुझाने के लिए फायरब्रिगेड को बुलाया गया था।
  Firebrigade was called to extinguish the blaze.
  
  
• कौए ने पानी पीकर अपनी प्‍यास मिटाई।
  The crow extinguished its thirst by drinking water.

Extract (vt.) – एक्सट्रेक्ट – बात का निचोड़ निकलना / छांटना – Essence / Gist

• न्यूज़ चैनल पर बोल रहे लोगों का काम यही है कि बड़ी जानकारी का निचोड़ निकाल कर उसे आम जनता तक पहुँचाया जाए।
  The primary role of the spokesperson on a news channel is to take out the extract of vast data and explain it to the common mass.
  
  
• अच्छा लेखक वही है जो बात को गोल – गोल न घूमा कर, साफ़ स्पष्ट भाषा में उसका निचोड़ बता दे।
  A good writer is the one who clearly explains the essential extract of the topic instead of talking roundabout.

Extravagant (adj.) – एक्सट्रावगैंट – बेफिज़ूल ख़र्चीला / फ़िज़ूलखर्ची – Squander

• समझदार व्यक्ति वही कहलाता है जो सिर्फ ज़रुरत का सामान ही खरीदे और फ़िज़ूलख़र्ची बिलकुल न करे।
  A person is said to be wise only if he buys required things and doesn’t spend extravagantly.
  
  
• अभय के हाथ से पैसा बहुत जल्दी निकलता है क्योंकि वह हर अच्छी चीज़ को देखकर उसपर बेफिज़ूल में खर्च कर देता है।
  Abhay is not able to hold onto money because he spends extravagantly by getting attracted to a thing.

Extrovert (adj.) – एक्स्ट्रोवर्ट – बहिमुर्खी (जो अपनी बात खुलकर शेयर करे) – Friendly

• मैं खुलकर बोलता हूँ, जिसके कारण मैं कभी-कभी परेशानी में पड़ जाता हूँ।
  I’m an extrovert person, due to which I sometimes get into trouble.
  
  
• बहिर्मुखी लोग आमतौर पर बहुत अच्छे वक्ता होते हैं।
  Extrovert people are generally very good speakers.
