पिताजी ने पंशुल से पूछा कि आखिर उसके पढ़ाई में प्रदर्शन में गिरावट की वजह क्या है। पंशुल ने कहा कि उसे सब समझ आता है और ज़्यादा कठिनाई भी नहीं होती है लेकिन उसे पढ़ने में इतना मन नहीं लगता। पिताजी समझ गए कि पंशुल के सर से अब तक फुटबॉल का भूत नहीं उतरा है। उन्होंने पंशुल को अपनी फुटबॉल प्रैक्टिस फिर से शुरू करने को कहा और साथ ही साथ अपनी पढ़ाई भी जारी रखने को कहा। पंशुल के अंक फिर से बढ़ना शुरू हो गए और फुटबॉल में तो वह पहले ही से माहिर था। एक साल बाद जब भारतीय अंदर 17 टीम में चुनाव की बात आयी तो स्थिति थोड़ी सी गंभीर हो गयी। अब पंशुल के बारहवीं के बोर्ड एग्जाम और ट्रायल एक ही साथ होने वाला था। पंशुल ने दोनों पर बराबरी का ध्यान दिया और उसके बहुत अच्छे अंक आये। अब बारी थी ट्रायल की, कड़े परिश्रम के बाद पांशुल ने मैच में घुटने में चोट लगने के बावजूद दो गोल किये और अपनी टीम को जीत दिलाई। उसके इस जुझारूपन और खेल के प्रति समर्पण को देख कर उसे भारतीय टीम में जगह मिल गयी। जब पिताजी ने यह देखा कि पंशुल बुरी तरह घायल होने के बावजूद मैच से बाहर होने के बजाय खेल में बना रहा और शानदार प्रदर्शन किया तो उन्होंने अपने फैसले पर फिर से सोचा। पिताजी ने पंशुल से पूछा कि वह आखिर क्या करना चाहता है। पंशुल के खेल के प्रति रुझान और समर्पण के साथ साथ पंशुल के फुटबॉल को लगाव को देख कर पिताजी ने उसे फुटबॉल में करियर बनाने की अनुमति दे दी। इस सब के साथ पिताजी ने एक शर्त ज़रूर रखी कि अगर वह फुटबॉल का रास्ता चुन रहा है तो उसे पूरी लगन और श्रद्धा से मेहनत करे।

Translation
Father asked Panshul what was the reason behind the decline in performance in his studies. Panshul said that he understood everything and did not have much difficulty but he did not feel much interested in studying. Father understood that the mania of football hadn’t left Panshul. He asked Panshul to resume his football practice and to continue his studies as well. Panshul’s marks started improving again and he was already adept in football. A year later, when the matter of selections in Indian Under 17 teams came, the situation became a bit serious. Now the twelfth board exams and trials of Panshul’s were to be held simultaneously. Panshul paid equal attention to both and got very good marks. Now it was time for the trials, after hard work, Panshul scored two goals in the match despite a knee injury and led his team to victory. Seeing his combativeness and dedication towards the game, he got a place in the Indian team. When father noticed that Panshul continued playing the game rather than pulling out of the match despite being badly injured, he reconsidered his decision. Father asked Panshul what he wanted to do. Seeing Panshul’s interest in sports and his passion for football, father allowed him to pursue a career in football. With all this, father made a condition that if he was choosing the path of football, then he should work with dedication and devotion.
